My sister gave me her timeshare at Saratoga Springs for the week of July 27. My plan was to ONLY enjoy the resort not the parks. I said NEVER do Disney in the summer..Only myself and kids 15, 12, 9, 9....I worry the lines/heat will be too much. HELP!

    Hi Beth,

It sounds like you have a very nice sister to give you an opportunity like this...wow!  I too am going to be there this July and I understand exactly what you're saying, I always said "Florida in the summer....no way, I will never go there with the heat and possibility of hurricanes, etc..." but I have still done it many times and as long as you go with the intention of taking it easy and relaxing, I am sure you will enjoy it just as much as I always do!  My suggestion for the parks is to go very early (right at opening) and late at night (during Extra Magic Hours) and you will find that even on the hottest of days you will avoid most of the stifling heat and even enjoy some periods with a nice breeze.  The line ups for many of the attractions also tend to be more light during these periods I find.  The worst is when guests are too busy to see everything in the stifling, hot mid-day sun and this is when it becomes uncomfortable and not much fun at all.  There are so many things to do in Walt Disney World on a hot day (i.e. swim, shop, dine, water craft rentals, stroll along at a leisurely pace enjoying much of the "World" that you normally never would have time to see (i.e. other WDW Resorts and their fun activities, beautiful landscaping, etc...) and of course take time to enjoy your own resort.  You have one advantage over myself which is that you are from South Carolina, so you are a bit more used to the temperatures and weather patterns that you would experience when visiting Florida, where someone like myself....even though we do experience some very hot summers here in British Columbia, we don't have the humidity that you do and it takes much more getting used to for us!  Take it easy, relax, enjoy your surroundings and most of all.....have a worry free and magical trip to Walt Disney World!

    Best wishes,
