If I am 18 and my sister is 16 would i be able to book and travel to take her on her birthday trip before I leave for the US navy. I won’t be here for her birthday in January so i wanted to surprise her with a trip to disney

Hi there, Amy, and welcome to planDisney!

Before we jump into your question, I want to thank you for your service. I'm wishing you all the best as you set off for this very important next chapter!

Now...did someone say "Sister of the Year?" Because I'm pretty sure that's exactly what you are! It's clear that you and your sister are just as tight as Anna and Elsa, and I love your idea for a birthday surprise at The Most Magical Place on Earth! I'm sure it will be a wonderful chance to laugh, bond, and feel the magic before you depart for the Navy. So let's get down to business and sort out your upcoming travel plans!

Amy, I've got some good news for you. In order to book a resort stay at a Disney Resorts Collection hotel, the lead guest (that's you!) must be 18 years of age or older. Just to be sure, I spoke with a Disney Cast Member and confirmed that your sister is welcome to stay with you (yay!).

Since you're visiting in just a few weeks, let's put your planning in high gear! I did a little digging and found that resort availability is fairly limited around the time of your stay. While you may not have as many options as you would if you were booking further out, I'm still seeing availability at some truly magical Disney resorts. This includes Disney's Port Orleans Resort - Riverside, Disney's Art of Animation Resort, and Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort.

Now, for a girls' trip like yours, my top pick would be Caribbean Beach. I recently stayed there with some planDisney pals, and I loved the island vibes, the convenience of the Disney Skyliner, and the quick stroll over to Disney's Riviera Resort (don't miss the banana bread at Le Petit Café!). Whatever you choose, be sure to book as soon as you can so you don't lose your chance!

Amy, this is bound to be a memorable and emotional visit for both you and your sister. But since you're celebrating a birthday, I want to mention a few ways to amp up the party vibes. First, pick up a complimentary celebration button from the Front Desk at your resort. This is a great way to let others know you're celebrating something spectacular! Second, check out Disney's Enchanting Extras collection, which features some extraordinary experiences to mark your special occasion.

I hope this helps, and that all your dreams come true on your magical sisters' extravaganza! I'm sending you good vibes and pixie dust as you set off for your next adventure. If you have any other questions as you plan your getaway, feel free to write me directly. I'm always happy to help!

    See ya real soon,

    Allison
