I am a single parent of a soon to be 10 year and never been on a cruise. Planning for 2016 for a 5th gr. graduation present. Wanted to know, what suggestions do you have as I plan this cruise and can make it memorable for both us and have me time? :)

    Wow, Tara!

What an awesome plan you have for a graduation present! How appropriate to reward your soon-to-be-middle schooler with such a wonderful celebration trip. You will have an epic voyage for sure - and I can't wait to hear about your plans as 2015 and 2016 roll around. The summer before middle school will definitely be in the books as the most memorable summer vacation ever! < Parent Award goes here! >

You definitely want to take loads of pictures. So plan your outfits accordingly... the Disney Cruise professional photographers take really good high definition photos. You can get those solo shots of your new grad at every opportunity. Every evening, the Disney Cruise signature backgrounds are setup in the lobby atrium, and these make great mementos of your magical voyage. I would suggest purchasing a photo mat from your local crafts store. You can print your 10-year old's name on it (or customize as you please)... and you can leave the photo mat with Guest Services so that the Disney Pals and Princesses can autograph it for free! Now you've got a great photo mat for your choice photo, ready to frame when you get home.

Do check the various Celebration packages & gifts available onboard. What an awesome surprise as you guys walk into your stateroom if you choose to splurge on this. The Personal Navigator will list all the activities that you can plan on enjoying. From your meals, to shows, and to deck parties - you'll have lots of magical moments to enjoy! Have your child enjoy the youth clubs while you spend some quiet time at the Spa - relax and get pampered... Bliss!

Let us know if you've decided on a certain voyage. We'd love to help you plan more activities as your sail date approaches.

    Happy planning!
