Hello - I am a single mother and my 14 year old daughter is dying for me to take her to Disney, this will be OUR first time every going, any suggestions where we should stay? Should I purchase tickets for all of the parks in advace? Suggestions please

    Hi Sandra,

You and your daughter will have a great time together at Walt Disney World, no matter where you stay!  My main question to you would be one of budget.

If you are able to spend the money on a deluxe resort, I think you would really love staying at Yacht or Beach Club.  The location is perfect.  You are within walking distance of two parks, Epcot and Hollywood Studios, and the pool area is tons of fun.

If you're on a tighter budget, like many of us these days, Value Resorts are great options.  They are fun and colorful with great food courts and themed pools.  You'll have to rely on bus transportation to all of the parks, but with a 14 year old, that isn't a big deal.

As far as purchasing tickets, you can purchase them in advance so that they are available when you check in at your resort, or you can wait and purchase them when you arrive.  You'll just want to buy a pass for the number of days you plan to spend in the parks.  The more days you pay for, the less you end up paying for each individual day.

Hope this helps get you started.  Please come back and ask any question.  I, and I'm sure all of the Moms on the Panel want this to be a magical vacation for you and your daughter!

Meet the Panelist: Diane, Georgia

After spending 25 years in RI, my husband and I relocated to GA with our youngest, who is now in high school. I took my first trip to Walt Disney World when I was 11 and I have traveled many times since then with all different party sizes. From creating our first itinerary as a honeymooner to later creating magical experiences for our multigenerational family gatherings, every aspect of planning a vacation has been pure joy to me.  Learn More About Diane
