I am a single mother planning a trip to Disney with my two children, aged 5 & 9. I am concerned about where my older son will be when I am riding some of the kiddy rides with my youngest. Is there a monitored waiting area near each ride for non-rider

    Hi Lisa!

I am a single parent like you so I understand where you are coming from with your question.  To my knowledge, there are no monitored waiting areas for non-riders in Walt Disney World.  That being said most of the the rides and attractions in Walt Disney World are for the whole family so that you can ride them and enjoy them together.  There really are not what I call "kiddie rides" in Walt Disney World like other theme parks have.  For example, kids and adults alike can have fun on rides like Peter Pan's Flight, It's a Small World or even Dumbo the Flying Elephant!  You might have more of an issue with the rides that your 9 year old meets the height requirements and your 5 year old doesn't because you wouldn't want to leave your 5 year old alone while you ride with your 9 year old.  My recommendation is to find the rides, attractions, and shows that you all can do together as a family (there are lots of them in each park).

I hope that you make some amazing and magical family memories on your vacation in Walt Disney World!
