I am a single mom and wanna bring my girls Christmas 2015 and their ages at that time will be 4, 11, 8,-all girls! Although I wanna bring them by myself, Would that be a good idea? Should I bring someone with me?

    Hi, Tasha!

It’s wonderful that you’re planning a visit to The Happiest Place on Earth with your daughters during the holiday season, and it’s never too early to start dreaming and planning! Christmastime is one of my favorite times of year to explore the Disneyland Resort because of the festive decorations, entertainment and special treats.

Personally, if I were you and had another adult willing to accompany me on the trip, I would take them up on the offer. With three kids in tow, it can help to have another set of eyes and hands when navigating the theme parks. However, having said that, you certainly can take them on your own if that’s what you would prefer! The best advice I can give for visiting as a single parent is to have a touring plan in mind before you arrive. Make time for the four of you to check out, particularly the attractions list, in advance. You may find that there’s more overlap in their interests than you anticipated in spite of their age difference, and each child will feel like her desires were worked into the family’s schedule, which will make for smoother days in the parks.

I suggest measuring your girls’ height shortly before the trip and then check out the list of height requirements for attractions online so you’ll know exactly what their riding options are. If there are attractions your 4-year-old isn’t tall enough to ride but your 8-year-old and 11-year-old decide they would be comfortable experiencing without you (they do meet Disney’s minimum age requirement for riding alone, which is 7 years old), be sure to utilize Disney’s FASTPASS Service or the Single Rider Line when available to reduce the amount of time you’re separated.

I hope this helps, Tasha. Please write back with more questions as you continue to plan your pixie-dusted vacation!

    Wishing you magic,
