Single mom traveling alone with DD5 & DS6. Which value or moderate would be best for us as far as having lightest crowds (food courts / pools), kid-friendly quick service food choices, shortest wait times for buses, etc? (late April/early may) Thanks!

    Krystle:

You've got a lot of things on your checklist, but if I had to narrow it to one, I'd go with Port Orleans French Quarter for several reasons:
    • Buses:  Although there is only one bus stop at the All-Star Resorts and they have no lack of buses, the lines can be long.  Certainly when you compare French Quarter to the other Moderates that have several stops even within their own resorts, it's a good option. Keep in mind, though, that some of its buses may stop at Port Orleans Riverside. But it's unpredictable.
    • Food Court: I am a big fan of the food court at Coronado Springs Resort, but otherwise, you'll find roughly the same food court fare at the Values and Moderates (except for the FQ's beignets).
    • Pool: Caribbean Beach Resort's pirate ship is probably the most popular. French Quarter's has a slide but nothing as spectacular as a waterfall like Coronado Springs either, so it won't be as crowded as these.
    • Campus Size: French Quarter is the smallest resort of the Values and Moderates, and with two children, a walk from the bus stop back to the room can mean the difference between a good day and a meltdown. Also, a convenient room does not cost more like those at the Values or Caribbean Beach Resort. Request to be in Building 5 so you are near the food court, pool and possibly score a view of the Sassagoula River.
The theming at French Quarter is lost on young children. But it sounded like convenience and light crowds were your top needs. Make up for that by taking the kids on a boat ride to Downtown Disney from the resort to take in the sights!

    Wishing y'all a magical vacation!

Meet the Panelist: Whitney, Mississippi

My family of 6 appreciates Disney's value! Although Ft. Wilderness is our second home, we've enjoyed the resorts for business, reunions and romantic getaways. For me, Disney also means dining: last count, I'd eaten at 55 restaurants around the World! Learn More About Whitney
