I am a single mom on a tight budget but wants to fulfill my daughter’s dream of going to Disneyland this coming spring. What is the best way to go about doing this? Does Disneyland have any promotions for “Single Parents”?

It’s a small world after all, Paulie, and I’m so glad you found your way to planDisney!

Since 2020 has been such a doozy, I can’t think of anything more magical than planning a future visit to the Happiest Place on Earth with your daughter! You will both make so many special memories together.

I completely understand your plight – a Disneyland Resort vacation requires extensive planning and budgeting. Unfortunately, there isn’t a specific promotion for single parents, but there is a helpful Offers & Discounts page that I recommend keeping an eye on. Currently, there aren’t many offers available since the Disneyland Resort theme parks and Resort Hotels are temporarily closed as we await updates from local and state government officials. But, once we receive reopening news, I'm hoping we'll see more offers become available.

My dear friends and fellow Panelists, Kristen N. and Tony S. have some money-saving ideas, too! Kristen suggests checking for savings in other places, such as credit card points portals or travel associations you may belong to. In addition, she mentions that grocery stores and warehouse club stores may sell Disney Gift Cards with more value loaded on them than what you end up actually paying. In addition, Tony recommends purchasing Disney Gift Cards throughout the year to help prepare for an upcoming Disney vacation. Then, he uses his Gift Cards to purchase Disneyland Resort theme-park tickets and make hotel reservations, too.

Speaking of hotel stays, the most budget-friendly option on-property is usually Disney’s Paradise Pier Hotel, which is just a short walk to Downtown Disney District. I stayed there earlier this year, and had a great experience. You can also look into Good Neighbor Hotels, which are nearby Disney-approved hotels with room rates for every budget.

As we await reopening news, there are several ways to stay “in the know” so you don’t miss a beat! I recommend keeping an eye on the Disney Parks Blog, Disneyland.com, and the Disneyland app for all the latest updates and information. You’ll be the first to know when theme-park tickets and hotel reservations are available once again!

Once the parks do reopen, keep in mind that reservations will be required in an effort to promote physical distancing. Hopefully we’ll have more information about the new reservation system soon.

Wishing you Disney magic this holiday season and beyond, Paulie!
