I am a single father My daughter and i are going to wdw for a week. 1-10/ 1-17 are first time and my 13yr paid & old booked everything for my x-mas present were at port orleans riverside thinking of upgrading hotel looking for ideas..

Hi Steven! What an extraordinary gift from your daughter and how exciting this trip will be for you both!
Port Orleans Riverside is a wonderful moderate resort.  If you are wishing to upgrade you might consider either the Grand Floridian which will be close to the Magic Kingdom or the Yacht/Beach or Boardwalk resorts which are within walking distance to EPCOT.

Our family prefers the EPCOT area since you can head into the park easily to simply walk around or eat or watch the Illuminations show.  With the three resorts mentioned you are within close proximity using the International Gateway entrance.  You are also within a mile walk to Hollywood Studios and if you choose not to walk you can take the water taxi which takes about 15-20 minutes.  Being so close to two parks makes this area very desirable since you are not always waiting on bus transportation.  The Boardwalk lights up at dusk with street entertainers and other events. If you are sports minded don't forget to stop in at the ESPN Club to catch the latest scores and action.

Check on-line at the Disney website, www.disneyworld.com, to make some dining reservations before you go.  I like to have one reservation per day whether its for lunch or dinner.  It allows you to rest, regroup, and enjoy a wonderful meal each day.

    Have a wonderful vacation!
