I am a single Dad and am taking my 4 children (ages 6,7,8 and 9) on the Disney Wonder leaving LA for the Mexican Riviera on April 10, 2011. Other than the Pirate party (which we are prepared for!) are there any other special events that I need to pack for?

    Hi, David!

Hats off to you, my friend! I also have four children -- a little older than yours -- but I can only imagine how you're preparing for this cross-country trek and 7-night sea voyage! The great thing about it is once you're on board...you can rest easy knowing that everyone is going to have a great time, and you'll be the hero as the planner of this magnificent family vacation!

Yes, you definitely need to pack the piratical attire, and it sounds like you've got that covered. (Eye patches, bandanas, swabby swag? Check, check and check!) For the other nights, you'll enjoy four nights of "cruise casual" attire -- which means no shorts, jeans or t-shirts -- and then there's one formal night and one semi-formal night.  Yet, don't panic! Formal can mean a suit for you, and nice khakis, collared shirt and a sportcoat for the young gentlemen. Formal for the ladies means a beautiful sparkly, flowy dress and some dressy shoes. For semi-formal, the boys can lose the coat and wear a collared shirt and dress pants while the girls can wear a nice sundress or skirt and blouse. For you, semi formal can be dressed down to khakis and a blue sportcoat -- with or without a tie. I hope that helps you plan. Now, get to packing!

Have a wonderful day and a magical vacation. Bon voyage!
