Single dad bringing his 3 year old princess to Disney April 24th (last minute trip-Both 1st timers). 1) Sandals, crocs or sneakers for the parks? 2) Water shoes for the water parks? 3) Bring back pack with back up clothes/shoes? Thank you! Nervous

    Hi Anthony,

I'd be happy to help you with this!  I'm very excited for you guys...your first trip to Disney will be an incredible memory that you'll be sharing forever!  Don't worry that your little princess might not remember it all. Just make sure you take a lot of pictures with her not just of her alone.

I've been taking my kids to Disney World since my oldest (now 13) was 18 months old.  My son (now 10) was 3 months old the first time I took him.  Definitely take a change of clothes for her.  They spill on themselves, get dirty, sweaty...and from experience, don't make it to the restroom 100% of the time!  It makes for a really cranky kid.  Absolutely use a back pack, but not the ones with wheels as those are not allowed in the parks.

Water shoes, hat, and sunscreen are also musts at the water parks.  Those parks are a ton of fun!  As for shoes, I'd go with whatever is comfortable on her.  Don't take crocs unless they are relatively new.  They get really slippery when they are worn out, and I don't want her to fall when she gets off a water ride.  If she's a big walker, sneakers are best.  If she's going to be in the stroller most of the time, she can wear the sandals.

Make sure you carry a lightweight jacket or sweatshirt for her.  Everything is air conditioned and it might get a little chilly at night.

Don't forget to pack a little first aid kit in your backpack.  Band aids, antibiotic cream, baby wipes, Tylenol, etc.  Disney has great first aid, but it's just very convenient to have when it's something minor.

I hope this helps!  Have a wonderful time on your vacation!
