This might be a silly question but can you stay on the ship when it docks at a port? Are restaurants, shops, etc running as usual? Is there any advantage to doing this? Never cruised before; first cruise Sept. 2012 on Fantasy (Eastern).

    Hi Kari,

That is SOOO not a silly question!  In fact, it's a very smart one.  If you've never cruised before, I think you should visit and explore your ports a little; close to the ship so you can head back early if you'd like.  There's some great shopping in every port.

I have cruised several times and I have stayed onboard plenty while the ship in docked.  Most everything is running as usual except that the shops are closed.  The great part is that the pools and spas (well the whole ship) will mostly be empty!

The Disney Fantasy is a magnificent ship, and for your first cruise you've picked the top of the line!  Please let me know if you have any other questions.  I'm always happy to help.  I'm so excited for you!  Have a wonderful trip Kari!

Magic Kingdom still takes my breath away, but my favorite place to be is on a Disney ship looking at the horizon and breathing in that crisp, clean ocean air!  I love planning Disney vacations for others and making sure it's more than they dreamed. Learn More About Marisol
