I would like to get silhouettes of the family done when we are WDW in December. I have a child with a disability- how long does it take to do an individual silhouette? And how still does the subject have to be able to sit? Thanks-

I had silhouettes done for all four of my children when we were there in September.  I, too, have a child with special needs as well as a very active two-year-old son.  I was concerned about both of them sitting still long enough for the silhouette artist to complete the process but was pleasantly surprised both by how quickly she worked and how easy it was to keep them still enough.

I opted to have each of my children done separately.  They were provided a chair to sit in while the artist went to work.  I'd estimate that it took roughly 5-7 minutes for each one.  Two of my four sat perfectly still while the other two did a bit of fidgeting.  We were provided with little toys to try to keep them occupied and it worked fairly well.

One thing I would recommend would be to try to save the silhouettes for a time when their will be few distractions around.  Don't go just before a parade for instance.  We did it on a night of Mickey's Not So Scary Halloween Party when the park closed early.  There were very few people meandering about so that really helped us to hold the attention of the little ones.

    Good luck!

I'm Darcie, and my friends would be the first to tell you that Disney trip planning (especially dining!) is my love language. Of course, the vacations my family enjoys today look much different than they did when our kids were little, but while some of our favorite activities have evolved, Disney destinations still top our travel wish lists.
