Hey, there! Hi, there! Welcome back to planDisney. Christine, I'm also thrilled to welcome you to the
runDisney family!
I was not initially planning to run
Springtime Surprise Weekend. Then my friend
Lizzie registered, and that was all I needed to lace up my sneakers for another runDisney event.
Walt Disney World Resort is the most magical place to race!
Now that you are registered, it's time to sign your digital waiver, train and pre-order merchandise if there is anything you have your heart set on already.
Just about two weeks before the weekend, you will get an email from runDisney with the digital guide and Expo information. This is packed with details on start times, transportation, race routes and even information for spectators. It will tell you when the Expo is open, which is really important because this is where you will get your bib to run before the morning of your race.
The Expo is in the
ESPN Wide World of Sports Complex. There are typically three buildings at the Expo to support athletes at the event. The first stop is bib pick-up, usually in the State Farm Field House. You will need picture identification to pick up your bib. Next up: the Health Expo in the Athletic Center. Here, you can find almost everything you can think of for runners. From sunglasses, running shoes, recovery sandals, hot and cold therapies and nutrition, the Expo has it all. It also has your race t-shirt. For this, you will need your race bib and the tear-off tag with the size and style of shirt you signed up for with your registration. If you want runDisney merchandise or have pre-ordered anything, AdventHealth Arena has you covered. The center will have a variety of Springtime Surprise and runDisney swag to brag!
The Expo usually opens the day before the first race. The only thing that may require registration of any sort is a
virtual queue on the first morning to get in line for entry to the AdventHealth Arena for merchandise. You will not need to register in advance to get your bib or official race t-shirt.
If you are staying at a
Disney Resorts Collection hotel, they have bus transportation that will take you to the runDisney events, including ESPN Wide World of Sports for the Expo. Parking is also available and has traditionally been complimentary.
I really am so excited for you and your first runDisney weekend. I thought this answer with information about
what to expect on race day might be helpful. If you have any other questions as you plan your adventure, please race back by
planDisney. We're cheering for you!
Every Mile is Magic!
