    We are signed up for Mickey's Backyard BBQ 6:30. Is event worth 2 table service? Don't get to meet any characters since they dance on stage. And is it necessary to plan for it take 1 1/2 hours to get there from Disney Hollywood Studios?

        Mickey's Backyard BBQ is an is an all-you-care-to-eat Disney Character dance party with live country-western band at Disney's Fort Wilderness Resort & Campground. My son and I went to Mickey's Backyard BBQ in October 2010 for the first time and we had a blast! The characters do not come directly to the tables at Mickey's Backyard BBQ, but they do come out on the main dance floor to dance with you and your family and also at select locations in between the tables at various times during the evening. This is actually one of the best places to get up close and have fun with Disney characters!  When the characters are not on the dance floor, the live band is playing and singing lively Country songs. I personally think that it is worth the two Table Service Credits.

          It does take a lot of traveling time to get to Mickey's Backyard BBQ because of where it is located in Fort Wilderness Campground.  If you are traveling from Hollywood Studios to Mickey's Backyard BBQ, I have a great route for you that is the quickest one that I have personally discovered.  You can take a Disney bus from Hollywood Studios to either the Contemporary Resort or the Wilderness Lodge Resort and then take a boat to Fort Wilderness Campground from either of these two Resorts.  The boat will drop you off at the Fort Wilderness Campground dock which is very close to the entrance of Mickey's Backyard BBQ.
