Hi! Just signed up for my first Disney races - the TOT and the Wine n Dine 1/2 and am worried now about transportation. We are DVC members, but are not staying at a host resort. So my question is, how is it best to get to and from the races?

Hi Rachel!  Congratulations on signing up for your first two races!  The Tower of Terror will be a perfect training run for the Wine and Dine!  The Wine and Dine half marathon is my favorite runDisney race, and I am guessing the Tower of Terror race will be right up there!  I love running at night, and of course, I love post-race parties!
While staying at a host resort makes transportation convenient, certainly there are alternatives.  Since you are a DVC member, you are probably very familiar with the resorts and bus systems.  One option would be to find your way to a host resort to use the buses.  This may be a good idea for the expo for packet pick-up since you will not be in a hurry.
For race day (and packet pick up if you choose), you can arrange for a taxi to be waiting for you at your resort to take you.  I have done this for races, and found that as long as I allow myself plenty of time, it will work fine.  You will be getting detailed directions with listings of road closures soon before each race.  Just make sure your cab driver follows the alternate routes to the starting line.
I have taken taxis and driven myself to the races.  While it is not as convenient as the buses, I find that as long as I allow myself lots of extra time, I never have issues.  The traffic for the races starts getting really bad about an hour and a half before the race.  I make sure I am already parked and enjoying the warm-up DJ with the other runners by that time!
No worries!  Let me know if you have any other questions about your races!
