I signed up for the Disney Marathon in January 10. Would it be unreasonable to plan for the dessert/fireworks reservation at 7:30 that same night after I ran 26.2? I am also thinking of the Pasta Party. Is it worth going? My kids are 8, 6, and 2. Thanks!

    Hi, Ange!

I hope you are excited for the Walt Disney World Marathon! I also hope your training is off to a good start, January will be here before you know it.

I think attending a fireworks dessert party on Sunday night, post race, is a great way to commemorate your race accomplishment! It is important after you've recovered, refueled and refreshed to get back on your feet and get moving, though it will probably be a little slower than you are used to walking around. Here's my advice; I suggest the Wishes Fireworks Dessert Party at Magic Kingdom over the IllumiNations Sparkling Fireworks Dessert Party, mainly so you are able to sit down while you enjoy your desserts. The IllumiNations Sparkling Dessert Party has guests standing at highboy tables, that might not be as enjoyable of an experience. Which ever one you choose, don't forget to wear your medal.

As far as the Pasta in the Park Party, it's my top suggestion for adding some fun to your race weekend! I love getting to speak with my fellow runners, enjoying a pasta buffet and having all the Mickey Ice Cream Bars I can eat - we are carb-loading, right :) Plus, your kids will love it, too! There are face-painters, character greetings and a DJ encouraging the little ones to come out and dance. AND....you get reserved viewing for IllumiNations on the night you attend the party (another point for the Wishes Dessert Party if you do both).

I hope this is helpful, Ange! Please let me know if you have any further questions. I am here to help you plan a magical runDisney-cation.
