Hi Seibel,
The
Jedi Training Academy at
Disney's Hollywood Studios (DHS) is out of this world fun for kids!
JTA is located near Star Tours. When we were there, they were holding registration under the Star Tours sign in what would have been the queue if the attraction wasn't currently undergoing a major reimagining. There were several Cast Members there who were directing potential Padawans participants to the registration area. It wasn't anything fancy or well-marked, just a Cast Member with a clipboard but they got the job done very efficiently. So while the actual sign up location may vary, it will be held in an area near the JTA stage - just ask any Cast Member near that area.
Guests must be between the ages of 4 and 12 to participate in the JTA. After completing their training, each participant "battles" Darth Vader. It is held several times a day. The times will be listed on your Times Guide that you pick up along with your Guide Map when you enter DHS. The number of participants is limited and they start registration first thing in the morning and stop once the spots are filled for the day (they usually fill up fast during peak seasons). If this is something your son wants to participate in, head that way first. He will need to be present with you to register. They will ask him a couple of questions to make sure he can follow some basic directions.
There will be a PhotoPass Photographer during the show getting shots of all of the participants. Following the session, be sure to stop by so that he/she can give you a slip of paper with instructions on how to get those pictures added to your Disney PhotoPass.
Wishing you many magical memories :-) Allison
