How do I sign up for an individual lightning lane pass?

    Hiya Alexandria!

Welcome to planDisney! Your trip is almost a month away and I'm sure you are very excited! The new Lightning Lane Multi Pass system is here and I'm sure you are busy learning all you can about it. I just came back from a family trip to Walt Disney World Resort where I had a chance to test it out and I found it very helpful in reducing wait times.

The first step to purchasing Lightning Lane Multi Pass or Lightning Lane Single Pass is to download the My Disney Experience Mobile App. All purchases and planning are done through this app so make sure you have it and it is the latest version. Your next step is based on where you are staying while visiting Walt Disney World Resort. Guests staying at a Walt Disney World Resort Hotel can purchase and book Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Single Pass 7 days before you arrive and for your length of stay (up to 14 days.) If you are not staying at a qualifying Resort then you will be able to make your purchase and selections 3 days before you arrive. Whichever day you can make your purchase be prepared to go at 7 am which is when you can begin the process. Right from the home page of your app, you will see a large banner for Lightning Lane which you will click through and make choices for your trip. You will select the day you are arriving and then can make three selections from two different groups of attractions. You will find an option to also add on a purchase to get a Single Pass which is for other attractions that tend to have longer wait times.

During my trip last week, I chose to buy a combination of Lightning Lane Multi Pass and Single Passes for different days. I found that the Multi Pass system was great when I visited Magic Kingdom Park as there were so many eligible attractions and standby wait times were long. However, when I visited Disney's Animal Kingdom Theme Park I found the Park was not busy and I just walked on every ride easily. This would have been a great day to Park hop and use the Lightning Lane Multi Pass at another Park as I have an Annual Pass. My goal was to get at least two more attractions booked over the three I pre-booked and if I stayed focused on the timing I was easily able to do it.

I hope this helps and if you have any more questions please let us know!

    Happy Planning!
