I have a very shy 3 yr old girl and am interested in having her participate in the oceaneers club. Do you have any suggestions for getting her to play and participate?

    Hi Cyndi,

Welcome to the Moms Panel!  I totally understand your concern, as I have a shy little one myself!  We found it to be very beneficial to visit the clubs during the "family time" on embarkation day.  This allows you to explore the spaces together, and you can judge her reaction to the possibility of attending on her own.  You may very well find that she is ready to jump in with both feet - however if she is still somewhat reserved, I would encourage you to participate with her until she is ready, simply ask for a "visitor" pass at the check-in desk.

It would also be helpful to sign-in to the club at the start of a specific activity, rather than a free play period when it may be more difficult to self-initiate play.  Having the youth counselors directing a specific activity may feel intimidating as they are very good about including everyone and making the children feel welcome.

    Good luck!
