Aloha, Christopher!
E Komo Mai (that means "welcome" in Hawaiian) to planDisney! How exciting that you have a visit to
Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa on Oahu on the horizon. Our family visits Hawaii every year, and we have stayed at Aulani many times. There's no place I'd rather be than riding the Hawaiian roller coaster ride and lingering in the ocean blue at Aulani.
Christopher, when we last went to Aulani, I had trouble booking the
Pearl Harbor excursion online and the dates for when it was offered through Aulani did not work with our schedule. I would recommend calling the Holoholo Desk at (808) 674-6320 to see if they have any availability for the excursion or if there is another one they recommend, and to inquire where the tour picks up. Not all of the excursions booked through Aulani offer transportation - in fact, when I called them recently, they said that for some of the excursions, you will have to get yourself to the meeting point. This is why I always recommend renting a car when visiting Aulani, as few tour companies pick up in Ko' Olina. Often you have to get yourself to a pick-up spot. Now you can Uber, but having a rental car gives you the most amount of freedom to enjoy all of the incredible cultural and adventurous experiences Oahu has to offer.
In our case, the excursion didn't match up with our plans, so I looked for an outside company, as it is hard to get tickets to Pearl Harbor directly. Most outside companies won't pick up in Ko' Olina, but they do pick up in Waikiki. You can drive your rental car or book an Uber to the meetup spot. We ultimately booked with a company called Personalized Hawaii Tours, which arranged a meetup spot closer to Ko Olina. It was a great experience, and one of my top recommendations when visiting Oahu.
Now, a few other things I would certainly recommend seeing on Oahu include the Polynesian Cultural Center, snorkeling on Hanauma Bay (reservations are required), hiking Diamond Head (reservations also required), horseback riding or an ATV or movie tour at Kualoa Ranch, Waimea Valley and a swim in the sacred Waimea Falls, and visiting the North Shore and Haleiwa Town. This is the reason I highly recommend having a rental car during your stay.
I hope this helps you, Christopher. If you have any further Disney vacation planning questions, surf back here to see me, and I'll be so happy to help you. Afterall, you are part of our Disney vacation planning 'ohana. 'Ohana means family, and that means nobody gets left behind.
