Hi Debbie,
Thanks for visiting planDisney! A Disney vacation can spark an
emotional whirlwind—and we want to make sure Joy stays in charge at your personal Headquarters, especially when it comes to airport transportation!
While Disney does not provide direct transportation to and from the airport, they do offer recommendations for getting to the Resort from both
John Wayne Airport (SNA) and
San Diego International Airport (SAN). Each airport has a Ground Transportation Center with a variety of shuttle services available. I highly recommend booking a reservation in advance to ensure your travel party is well accommodated. When choosing a service, consider what works best for your family’s needs—whether that means car seats, accessibility options, or extra space for luggage (or souvenirs!).
If you’re planning to explore beyond the Disneyland Resort—maybe check out a few other “islands of personality” around Anaheim or Los Angeles—you might want to rent a car. There’s even an
Enterprise car rental office conveniently located on the second floor of
Pixar Place Hotel. One option is to rent a car at the airport and return it at the hotel, which is super handy if you're arriving late or traveling home with a full trunk of memories.
For travel to and from San Diego, I’ve personally enjoyed taking Amtrak. The ride along the California coastline is not only scenic, but it also lets you sit back and relax without the stress of driving. You might also want to explore public transit options like San Diego’s MTS, Metrolink, or Amtrak’s Pacific Surfliner for a smooth and stress-free trip.
I hope this helps keep your planning running smoothly, Debbie! If you have any more questions or need additional planning tips, don’t hesitate to reach out to me or any of my fellow planDisney panelists. We’re always here to sprinkle a little extra pixie dust on your vacation.
Have a magical—and joyful—vacation!
