Welcome to planDisney, Anthony! I’m so glad you decided to visit us ahead of your cruise. Springtime is a lovely season to set sail.
For our family, our Disney Cruise Line vacation begins the minute we board the shuttle at the airport. If you are flying into Orlando International Airport (MCO) and sailing out of Port Canaveral, for example,
shuttle service is available for $45 per guest. Airport transfers are also available on your debarkation day. Keep in mind that prices are subject to change, but you can always verify pricing and
book ground transportation by calling (800) 951-3532.
Regardless of what port you are sailing out of, Anthony, may I suggest
a few things to keep with you in a carry-on bag? Since your luggage won’t arrive outside your stateroom until the afternoon of your departure, it’s important to keep a few essentials on hand, including travel documents, passport/citizenship information, and medications. If you're like me and don’t want to wait for your luggage to arrive before diving into all the fun on the ship, I also pack things like a swimsuit, sunscreen, sunglasses,
pin trading lanyard, and an
insulated mug. It doesn’t hurt to keep a portable phone charger on hand for all those pictures and videos you’ll want to take
on deck as you sail away.
Speaking of sailing away, I’d be remiss if I didn’t address the other thing I love to do as soon as I board: eat lunch! I dream of
dining on a Disney Cruise probably more than I should, but that’s just because there’s so much goodness to enjoy. From unlimited soft-serve ice cream to dishes reflecting unique ports of call, the cuisine on board is second to none. On embarkation day, I opt for one of the open-air eateries on the pool deck because there’s always something for everyone’s palette and I want to be able to sit in a lounge chair as soon as possible. I also like to pack towel clips for each member of our family; since Disney Cruise Line provides towels, this helps us secure them to our chairs while differentiating our space from other Guests’ lounge chairs.
Just remember, there’s magic in every moment of your trip. If you aren’t departing from Port Canaveral and have questions about your specific port, I hope you’ll visit us again at
planDisney.
Happy sailing,
Sami
