Greetings, Francisco! From one
Magic Key holder to another, welcome to planDisney. There's something special about visiting the Disneyland Resort knowing you'll be able to come back again soon.
Francisco, without a
theme park reservation, you won't be able to enter a theme park. You can still explore the
Downtown Disney District or schedule a Character dining experience at
Storytellers Cafe or Goofy's Kitchen. Perhaps even a spa treatment at
Tenaya Stone Spa? However, you'll need a valid theme park reservation if you want to go into Disneyland or California Adventure.
Think of your Magic Key pass as a car and the theme park reservation as the key – you need both to go. I try to make my reservations as early as possible to increase my chances of visiting on the dates I want. While same-day reservations may be available, there are times when they are not, and I'd hate for you to miss out. Depending on which Magic Key pass you have, you can hold between two and six reservations at a time. You can easily manage them through the
Disneyland mobile app or website.
Check which dates your pass can be used on the
Park Reservation Availability Calendar. A date with a slash means it's a blockout day and you won't be able to use your pass to make a reservation. A circle with a slash means reservations are not available. In that case, continue to check, especially late at night, and even the day before, as reservations may become available. The park you reserve typically only matters if you are arriving in the morning – after 11 a.m., you can enter either park regardless of which you hold a reservation for (subject to availability).
It's important for Magic Key holders to manage their reservations. A theme park reservation can be cancelled or modified up until 11:59 p.m. the night before. Once the clock strikes midnight, it can no longer be changed. If you don't enter a theme park on a day you have a reservation for, you will
receive a no-show. After three no-shows in a 90-day window, you will be unable to make new park reservations or modify existing park reservations for 30 days.
And Francisco, many benefits come with a Magic Key pass. Check the
Extras Unlocked page to learn about seasonal experiences, merchandise, and other fun opportunities exclusive to Magic Key holders. You can also follow the official
Disneyland Magic Key account on Instagram for other exciting updates as the year goes on.
I hope you've found this information to be helpful, Francisco! Don't forget to make those theme park reservations in advance! If you think of any other questions, please reach out. We're always glad to help here at planDisney.
Your pal,
Kriss
