I have a "shorty" tripod for my gopro. Is that allowed in the parks? I'm worried that it may be considered a "selfie stick" while collapsed.

    Welcome to planDisney Lori!

With all the magic of Walt Disney's 50th Anniversary Celebration, you are certainly going to want to take plenty of photos to remember this special vacation. However, I also do not want you to be disappointed if you arrive at a park gate and find you cannot carry in a certain item.

The Walt Disney World website has a complete list of Property Rules. Here is what the rules state:
"Tripods or monopod stands that cannot fit inside a standard backpack or that extend over 6' are not allowed theme parks...."
    and
"Selfie sticks, hand-held extension poles for cameras...are not allowed"

You will need to evaluate your personal item, as there is security screening at each park entrance.

If capturing that perfect magical photo is in your plans, make sure to stop by the PhotoPass photographers in the parks. They will take some fun shots of you and your travel pals and link them right to your My Disney Experience account.

Wishing you a vacation full of pixie dust!

Meet the Panelist: Cathy, Ohio

Hi, I'm Cathy from Cleveland. I love to travel, especially in the winter to escape the snow and cold of Ohio! My husband and 2 kids share my enthusiasm for travel, so we enjoy our adventures together whether it is hiking at a National Park, sailing on a Disney Cruise Ship, or going to Walt Disney World which is our home away from home. My husband proposed to me in front of Cinderella Castle and we have not stopped visiting ever since! It's a blast helping guests here at planDisney!
