Hello there, Laura. Welcome to planDisney! Thanks for visiting my pals and me as you set sail for adventure with the Disney Cruise Line. We are glad you are here!
I love that your son is saving up for some souvenirs on your upcoming cruise. My children are often doing the same. They know that there are plenty of treasures to choose from whether shopping onboard or while visiting ports of call. When it comes to shopping at
Castaway Cay, you will need to use your Key to the World Card to charge purchases to your onboard account. Cash is not accepted at the shops on the island. If your son is excited about using the cash he has saved, he could shop with the Key to the World Card on the island, and then take his cash to the Guest Services Desk to settle his portion of the onboard account.
Aside from fun shopping, Castaway Cay boasts pristine beaches, delicious lunch offerings, and a variety of activities to enjoy. When my son was five, he loved the Spring A Leak water play area on Castaway Cay. It's a shaded spot for younger sailors to splash around that I recommend checking out. There is also an extension of the youth activity program that you'll be used to on the ship right there on the island. You can check your children (ages 3-12) into the secure youth programming and enjoy the adults-only beach as they play. Enjoy the many options that will be available to you on Castaway Cay!
Laura, please visit planDisney again if you have any further questions. It would be a pleasure to help as you prepare for an adventure at sea.
Happy Sailing,
Adrianna
