Which ship would be best for a 9 year old boy?

Ahoy, Carleishia, and welcome to planDisney! A Disney cruise is sure to be packed with magical moments and lots of fun for the whole family.

There are a few things Disney cruise ships have in common, including amazing entertainment, themed restaurants, comfortable staterooms, fun onboard activities, and more. In considering whether there's a specific ship you'd want to sail on, think about the theming throughout the ship, the shows it currently offers, and the Main Dining restaurants.

I'd suggest looking into the Wish-class ships. These are newer ships with strong theming throughout, along with features I think a 9-year-old would appreciate, such as the Hero Zone with an inflatable obstacle course or the AquaMouse attraction.

Here are two ships that could be good options for you:

    • Disney Destiny: This is a clear frontrunner for anyone interested in heroes and villains. There are lots of unique opportunities to interact with Characters from Disney, Pixar, and Marvel, like Black Panther, Spider-Man, Loki, and many more. Entertainment is subject to change, but the Disney Hercules show is not to be missed. Pride Lands: Feast of The Lion King is a really fun dining experience, too.
    • Disney Treasure: The Grand Hall is majestic, with details inspired by Aladdin. A sense of adventure is carried throughout the ship. For dinner, Fiesta on the High Seas brings you into the world of Coco, and Disney The Tale of Moana is a really entertaining show.
Both ships have an interactive kids' club with distinct themed areas inspired by Marvel Super Heroes, Star Wars, and more.

You may want to consider a few other factors in deciding which cruise is best for your family, such as the departure port, the ports of call, length of sailing, and more. For example, Castaway Cay is an amazing place with a family beach, snorkeling lagoon, game pavilion, and even water slides. I'd definitely prioritize an itinerary that stops there if possible. You may also prioritize a themed sailing, such as Halloween on the High Seas or Marvel Days at Sea.

Carleishia, I'm confident that you'll have an amazing time whichever ship you choose. There's just too much fun to be had! Please reach out if you think of any questions as you continue planning the perfect cruise. We're always happy to help here at planDisney!
