Hi Sherri. Thanks for the weather advice. We are going in a large group also like you said you did at this time. I heard this week is the busiest of the year which is making the group uneasy. Any advice???

    Hi Monique,

Thank you for writing me back and I'm happy to offer suggestions to beat the holiday crowds. Firstly, be sure you have your dining plans set. I always recommend booking Advanced Dining Reservations during this week, as counter service locations will see very long lines. If you do intend to eat at counter service locations, eat during off-peak hours. You'll want to book Advanced Dining Reservations now, as many of the popular restaurants book up 180-days in advance. You can do so online or by calling 407-WDW-DINE, 407-939-3463.

Epcot will be very crowded on New Year's Eve, as will Magic Kingdom. Because you are traveling for a week, I would avoid Magic Kingdom on the Fri-Sat-Sun of that week (heaviest crowds.) Parks might close due to capacity, so plan to arrive early and stay throughout the day. If you wish to build in down-time, understand you may not be allowed re-admission.

Take advantage of FASTPASS when available and arrive 1-hour before Park opening time.

Understand you won't be able to see and do it all, so gather everyone together to determine "favorites" or "must-dos." One year I created a survey on to include everyone's opinions and expectations of the vacation. It not only allowed us to discuss potential conflicts but became a really fun aspect of planning. "Are you a Sleeping Beauty or a park commando?" "Will you move heaven and earth to obtain every autograph?" These are topics you need to discuss before you travel to make sure everyone is on the same page. Perhaps splitting up for a few hours mid-trip might be a good idea.

Yes, the Parks will be crowded, but traveling during the holidays will become a cherished memory your family will hold in their hearts forever. Keep your expectations low, have a plan, and enjoy the magic of Walt Disney World.

    Best wishes!
