Welcome to planDisney, Tina! I'm so glad to be able to answer your question today. I often share a room with friends to save money and also have a fun slumber party. I've got lots of experience splitting costs, so I'm happy to walk you through the best ways to do it.
How you split a payment really comes down to how you booked. If you reserved a vacation package that bundles the room and tickets, you likely paid a $200 deposit at the time of booking, and the remaining balance is due 30 days before arrival. One person would submit the payment in a single transaction, and then you'll settle up between yourselves afterward.
If you booked a room-only reservation at a
Disney Resort Hotel, the balance is charged to the card on file very early in the morning on the day you check out. You can simply let that charge go through and reimburse each other after, or you can stop by the front desk before your last day and have them apply exact amounts to different cards so everyone pays their share directly. Just tell the Cast Member the specific split you want, and they'll process the payments accordingly.
It also helps to think about incidentals during the stay. If you're charging meals or souvenirs to the room, keep receipts or snap quick photos so it's easy to divide later. On your final evening, you can ask the
front desk for a current folio to review together and confirm who's covering what. It's much simpler to tidy things up before the morning checkout. If anyone wants to use
Disney Gift Cards for their portion, bring them along, and the front desk can apply them in precise amounts.
I hope this answers your question, Tina, and please let us know if there's anything else we can do to help you plan your magical vacation!
