Hi Lisa!
Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel! I'm so glad that you found us hEAR to help you sort out this 'Whole New World!' (Well, a whole new Walt Disney World Resort!)
This is a great question, and actually I'm in the exact same boat for a visit to Mickey's house in November. Currently all Disney theme park ticket sales are paused everywhere for everyone, and an official 'resume sale' date has not been announced. It shouldn't be much longer because it seems like the plan is to get the majority of the theme parks,
resort hotels and
dining locations open, and then everything else will start up again so we can all
return to a world of magic.
I do have one hot tip that I can pass on:
Shades of Green is currently creating a queue of guests ready to buy Disney theme park tickets so when they have the green light to resume ticket sales, Shades can start processing the orders at minute one of day one.
Have you ever ordered tickets through Shades "online" before? It's a bit of a process. First you send an email to TicketInfo@ShadesOfGreen.org requesting an order form and they'll email that and a price list back to you. You can take as much time as you need to fill out the form, which is both asking and confirming what kind and how many tickets you need as well as collecting your or your sponsors Military ID eligibility information. You'll also include your method of payment info on this sheet, and once complete you send it back to them. They'll call you after a few days to let you know they are processing the transaction, and also to give you a heads up that your tickets are on their way. I purchased a
U.S. Military Promotional Multi-Day Walt Disney World Resort Theme Park Ticket this way in 2018 and the whole process took about two weeks from the first email until I got that piece of magical mail.
So what Shades is trying to do now is get their order forms out to as many U.S. Military families who still need tickets for future trips (raises hand!) as possible. Once ticket sales resume, guests will be helped in the order their form was received. Keep in mind that all ticket sale locations (military bases, travel agents, etc) should all get the green light at the same time, so this may not help you at all. But this is going to be your best plan if you don't currently live near an installation or if like me your base only stocks Disneyland Resort theme park tickets.
Bonus Tips: Make sure you're caught up on the brand new
Disney Park Pass Reservation System. And here's a handy
Park Reservation Availability Calendar so you can double check on that confirmation call that your desired dates are still available before you approve the purchase.
I hope this helped to plan your December Disney Days, Lisa, and if you have any more Walt Disney World Resort Vacation planning questions, We're All Ears!
