After several months on a waiting list, we were just offered the opportunity to book a cabana on Castaway Cay. Yes! How will we get wristbands for our family members (in three staterooms) - on the ship, or on the island? Any guidance on tipping hosts?

    Ahoy Stephanie!

Welcome back to planDisney!  I'm so glad that you've sailed back again as your cruise is just about here!  After months of planning, it's time to pack those bags and get ready to embark on a magical voyage with your family!

I'm thrilled to hear that Tinker Bell was able to send a little pixie dust your way and the opportunity to reserve a cabana on Disney Castaway Cay became available for your trip.  I had the chance to enjoy a cabana in December on my own stop at Castaway Cay and it really enhanced the visit.  From the comfy lounge chairs to the floats and tubes, you'll find it easy to relax the day away and send all of your cares drifting out to sea!  Stephanie, you can expect your wristbands to be delivered to your stateroom the day before you arrive at Castaway Cay.  All of the wristbands for your party will be delivered to your room as the one who made the reservation then you can distribute them from there.

Once you arrive on the island, you'll want to make your way to the Pelican Point Tram Stop and find the sign to check in for your cabana.  You can get to Pelican Point either by walking from the ship or hopping on the tram.  If your group is up for the walk, I recommend that option as you'll sometimes find characters out for photo opportunities and can also catch some great pictures of the ship docked at the island.

After checking in, a host will take you to your cabana and explain everything that is included.  Besides the recreational items, you'll also find an assortment of sodas and water, fresh fruit, some snack-sized bags of chips, towels, sunscreen, a hammock. . .and a front-row view of paradise!  If you need anything during your day in the cabana, you can simply push a button to ring for a host to assist you.  The pre-paid gratuities do not include your cabana host, but you are welcome to provide a cash tip for your host at the end of the day if you'd like.

Any young sailors traveling with you will be happy to know that there is a dedicated spot on the island just for them - Scuttle's Cove!  My boys loved hanging out with the friends they had made at the Oceaneer's Club while we were on the island and enjoyed the activities offered.  It also gave my husband and I a chance to spend a little quiet time together relaxing on the beach!

Stephanie, I hope this helps as you prepare to enjoy an island day that is practically perfect in every way!  Please remember that you are always welcome to be our guest here at planDisney.  If you have any more vacation planning questions, please feel free to write to me or any of my panelist pals again in the future!

    Bon Voyage!
