I've had several coworkers recommend POR, but CBR seems like it would be more fun for my 6 yr old son. Is this correct? As for CBR I've read it's best to get a pref. room due to the size; are these rooms loud since they are closest to the main building?

    Hi Lisa,

Thanks for stopping by to get our feedback so that you can plan the best vacation option for your family. Both Disney's Port Orleans Riverside Resort and Disney Caribbean Beach Resort are fantastic moderate choices in hotels. The theming is great for both, so it would probably be a matter of taste on which one you choose.

If your son is into pirates or would be really excited about a Spanish-mission fort style pool, then Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort would definitely be the place for your family. You can even reserve a pirate-themed room at this resort where the beds are fashioned like pirate ships and the room furniture is styled to look like crates and barrels. There are a limited number of these rooms, so they must be specifically reserved rather than simply requested. They are a bit more in cost, but totally worth it, in my opinion, for an extra magical experience. The main pool has a water slide and water cannons which add lots of extra fun to your pool time. You can also do lots of other fun recreational activities at this resort such as surrey bike rentals, catch and release fishing, and sing-a-long campfires. If you decide to reserve a preferred room, these rooms are typically closest to either a bus stop or main building and usually have better views, such as of the water or gardens, rather than a parking lot. So, requesting a preferred room doesn't necessarily mean that it will be super noisy and right next to a pool.

Disney's Port Orleans Riverside Resort has lots of great qualities, too, including a really fun pool area called Ol' Man Island and is themed to be like an old-fashioned swimmin' hole. Many of the above mentioned activities are also available at this resort, as well. The rooms are very nice, but I might see your son enjoying the pirate rooms at Disney's Caribbean Beach Resort a bit more.

I hope this helps you in your decision making and feel free to stop by with more questions.
