    Hello, we will be setting sail on Aug 22. I'm reading "no shorts" allowed during dinners. I'm wondering what to pack for the boys (age 12 & 7). I do have dress shirts for them, can they wear nice shorts? Isn't it too hot for pants this time of year?

    Welcome to the Moms Panel - you must be so excited for your upcoming cruise!  Thanks for checking in with your last minute questions, this is a good one!

    Unfortunately "shorts" can covers a lot of varieties of clothing - and I think that this is probably more to deter guests from wearing athletic shorts and swimsuits in the dining rooms.  It is perfectly acceptable for a child to wear a nice pair of dress shorts.  My son will typically be in dress shorts and a collared shirt with a belt.  His face will be clean and his hair combed - and I find this perfectly appropriate for the dining room.

    Keep in mind that shorts would not be acceptable in the adult-only venue, Palo.

    As you mentioned, yes it will be pretty hot this time of year - however in my experience I have found that the dining rooms and theaters tend to be quite chilly during the hotter months.
