We have 3 sets of magic bands from 3 separate vists last year. Someone told me that you could go on line and deactivate the bands so you can use them on a future trip. This person said that the batteries last bout 2 years if not deactivated..Can we do this

    Hi Edward,

Thank you so much for visiting the Disney Parks Moms Panel with your question!

Like you, I have visited Walt Disney World numerous times in the past year, and I am beginning to have quite a collection of MagicBands.  I am enjoying having multiple colors of MagicBands.  I leave all of them active so that I can take them all with me to Walt Disney World each time I visit and wear the one that best matches my outfit on any given day!

You can in fact deactivate any MagicBand that you have using your My Disney Experience account online.  Once you have logged in, go to the "My Disney Experience" tab at the top right, and scroll down to "MagicBands and Cards."  Once you do this, you will see each of the MagicBands that you have.  If you click on one of them, you will be taken to a screen where you can deactivate it.

However, I spoke with a cast member today who informed me that when you deactivate a MagicBand in this way, it does not deactivate the battery.  By deactivating a MagicBand, you are essentially uncoupling it from My Disney Experience and all of your information there, so the MagicBand will no longer work as anything that you have set up in My Disney Experience such as your Disney theme park admission or FastPass+ selections; however, you are not saving battery life by doing deactivating the MagicBand.

I hope that these thoughts are helpful for you, Edward.  Please do not hesitate to ask if you have any further questions!
