Can you set a spending limit on a child's magic band+?

    Hi LeaAnne,

Welcome to planDisney, and thank you for reaching out! How exciting that your Walt Disney World vacation is drawing near! Using a MagicBand or MagicBand+ is a fantastic way to make the most of your time at the Most Magical Place on Earth. It allows you to effortlessly unlock your hotel room, enter the theme parks, and even access Lightning Lane reservations with a simple touch. With so much magic right at your fingertips, MagicBands are a great tool for creating a smooth and seamless experience for the entire family.

To answer your question about managing spending for your child’s MagicBand, currently, there isn’t an option to set a specific spending limit on individual MagicBands, including those assigned to kids. However, I have a few tips that might help! First, you can monitor the charges made across all MagicBands linked to your account. If you notice your child’s spending approaching a preferred amount, stop by the Front Desk of your Disney Resorts Collection hotel to temporarily disable purchasing on their MagicBand. Another option is to link a different credit card to each MagicBand, allowing you to track specific charges per Guest more easily. Again, once that Guest hits their spending limit, head to a friendly Cast Member at the Front Desk for assistance! And if you need a quick fix, say while you're in the parks, updating the PIN required to complete transactions can help manage those unexpected purchases-just be sure to give your young ones a heads-up so there are no surprises at checkout. To do this, open your My Disney Experience app, tap the menu icon (three horizontal lines), scroll down to “MagicBands & Cards,” select the MagicBand you want to change the PIN for, tap “PIN,” and set your new four-digit code. Easy, right?

Since budgeting is important to you, let me suggest a couple of my best money-saving tips. First, grab a Resort Refillable Mug from your Disney Resorts quick service dining location. With your mug, you get a great souvenir from your tip and unlimited coffee, tea, and soda for the duration of your trip (up to 14 days). Similarly, I always grab a Refillable Popcorn Bucket on my first day. The refills are reasonably priced and a great snack throughout the day.

I hope this helps and gives you peace of mind as you plan your vacation! If you have any additional questions, I am happy to help!

    See you real soon!
