We're all set to sail on the 10 night Hawaii to Vancouver cruise in September 2015. As DVC members, we're planning to add several nights at Aulani before leaving on the cruise. What is the best way to get from Aulani to the Wonder?

    Aloha, Melanie -

I'm so excited to hear that you are visiting my hometown of Honolulu prior to setting sail with Captain Mickey on your Hawaiian voyage to Vancouver next year. The islands are beautiful and your combination vacation to Aulani and on the Disney Cruise is a dream vacation coming to life!

Though I have family in Honolulu, we always take the time to stay at Aulani whenever we are home in the islands. Our family's usual routine is to arrive at the Honolulu Airport, pickup our rental car, and make the drive to Aulani. We usually have 1 or 2 favorite stops along the way (local plate lunches... yum!) and a quick stop at Foodland or Walmart supplies. As fellow DVC members, we receive free self parking at Aulani. It's about a 30-45 minute drive from the Honolulu Airport to the resort, though it may take a little longer if you hit the heavy commute hours. There are lots of local sites to see during your stay, and having a rental car makes it convenient. Let me know if you need some tips there too, and I'll be glad to help :-).

At this time, there is no arranged Disney shuttle from Aulani to the Honolulu Cruise Terminal. We'll have to wait to hear if they offer this closer to your sail date next year. On embarkation day, you can return your rental car at the Honolulu Airport and arrange a private shuttle or airport transfer to meet the Disney Wonder at Terminal 2. There are quite a few local companies offering this service, and they range from per person costs (I've seen $11-$15/pp) to flat fees of $25-$35 for a party of 4. The tail end of the airport heading to Waikiki & the Port can get heavy traffic -- and a cab can easily cost you double. I don't think rental car companies offer free shuttles from the airport to the port yet. So, you might want to check with whoever you are renting from to be sure.

You will have an awesome time. I can't wait to hear more about your plans for your Ohana! ~Dolly
