I set sail next September for a Halloween on the high seas cruise and was interested in running the Castaway 5k with my husband. My question is are we able to check in our kids into the on island kids club while we complete the race?

    Hi Nicole!

Welcome to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!  A lot of fun awaits you on your Halloween on the High Seas itinerary – hint – think ahead and get some Halloween costumes this year so you are all set for next year’s cruise!

The Castaway Cay 5K is one of my absolute favorite activities when we visit Castaway Cay!  I always look forward to that morning run around the island!  It is a great way to see the island AND get a workout in before hitting the beach for the day!  Whether you are a runner or a walker it’s fun for all types of athletes.  The minimum age to participate in the Castaway Cay 5K is 10 years old, but younger children can be checked into Scuttle's Cove or the “it’s a small world” nursery! before you head to the starting line.  On the morning of the race you will meet as a group in a specified location onboard and then walk together to the starting line.  On the way there you can stop by the Youth Club on the island and check your kids in for secured programming.  Then when you complete the run you can either pick them back up – or as we like to do – leave them there while we gather our beach supplies for the day from the ship!  Then, once we have our spot secured we get them from the club and spend the day at the beach!  If you have children that will be at the nursery, you will want to check them in there before meeting at the specified onboard meeting location.

Castaway Cay 5K registration is done once you are onboard at Guest Services.  I recommend registering early on so that you secure your race bib and finisher’s medal!  Don’t forget to check the Daily Navigator for the other fun activities at Castaway Cay during your day there.  We always love the Family Whale Dig and the Character Dance Parties!

    Happy Sailing!
