Kathryn from MI Asked Please note that experiences, policies, pricing and other offerings are subject to change and may have changed since the date of this answer.

How do I set up an itinerary or does an agent do that for you at the time you purchase your cruise?

    Hi Kathryn!

Happy to have you onboard here at planDisney! When it comes to top-notch itineraries and excursions, Disney Cruise Line is nautical miles ahead of its competitors. Sailing the high seas with Captain Mickey is sprinkled with enough pixie dust that the ship could practically FLY like Captain Hook's ship did in Peter Pan! With so much that’s included on a Disney cruise, you will already have much of your voyage filled with great experiences.

Each cruise itinerary is mapped out on the Disney Cruise Line website, so you choose your own adventure to find the best fit for you and your crew. Once you have made your payment in full and completed online registration, you can get down to business making reservations. That’s what I think you are asking about is all the fun activities and entertainment which will round out your cruise itinerary.

So consider yourself the captain of your vacation ship when it comes to planning all your onboard and ashore activities. Of course, that planning can be handed off to your First Mate (aka Travel Agent) if that agent is willing to take this task on for clients. But the beauty is that it’s so easy to do, you could take the helm yourself!

So for now, make your dream list of experiences you’d like to have, like Port AdventuresSenses Spa and Salon treatments, meals at Palo and RemyBeverage Tastings, and much more. After you complete your online check-in, you will have access to the "My Plans" tab when you are signed in to "My Reservations" on the Disney Cruise Line website. Using the "My Plans" tab, you can select reservations available for every day of your sailing.

As far as timing, your Castaway Club level determines when your advance booking window opens. This window opens for first-time cruisers 75 days before your sail date. If you are a returning cruiser and part of the Castaway Club, you will have early access to these reservations as part of your club benefits.

Finally, be sure to bring your “compass” to the ship in the form of the Disney Cruise Line Navigator app on your mobile device. The app will steer you in the right direction as far as the dinner times, live shows, Pirate Night events, and character meet and greets with none other than Jack Sparrow. (Oops, don't forget to call him Captain Jack Sparrow!)

Kathryn, sail back to planDisney with more great questions. Together, we will chart a course to the best Disney cruise ever!
