Hi Erin!
Thanks for stopping by planDisney with your question about
Disney's Disability Access Service (DAS). We are fairly new to using DAS since my husband became disabled in 2021, and are so thankful that Disney goes above and beyond to make their theme parks, cruise ships, and Resort Hotels accessible to all Guests. Disney's accessibility is one of the main factors in our family choosing to visit often.
Eligible guests can
register for DAS in one of two ways: pre-register up to 30 days in advance (and no less than two days before arrival) via live video chat, or in person at a
Guest Relations location at the theme parks. Staying on Walt Disney World Resort property is not a requirement for obtaining a DAS pass, but there are a few requirements asked of Guests before requesting a pre-registration video call:
- All members of the travel party need to be added to the Family & Friends list (on the
My Disney Experience app) of the Guest with the DAS pass so that they can be included in DAS plans
- Each member of the travel party will need
valid theme park admission- The Guest requesting to use DAS must be present either in person at Guest Services or during the live video chat. The Cast Member will ask a few questions to determine DAS eligibility.
Once guests have been approved and pre-registered for DAS, they'll be allowed to pre-book two DAS Advance selections for each day of their visit. My husband has to remain in his wheelchair to experience attractions and shows, so I typically make a list of which experiences we're most interested in that will work with his accommodations. It's important to know which park you'll be planning to visit each day in order to make selections for the correct location! DAS Advance selections ensure that you'll have magical plans waiting for you when you arrive. Once you're in the theme park you can use the DAS self-selection tool on My Disney Experience to book additional experiences.
Guests who do not pre-register for DAS can register in person with a Cast Member at Guest Relations on the day of their visit.
I hope this helps with your planning, and that you have a magical Walt Disney World vacation! Please let us know if you have any further questions before your trip - we're happy to help!
