What services does WDW have to accommodate a child with Type one Diabetes? My grand daugter will need a place to check her blood sugar and administer her shots. Also, can you tell me what does WDW offer to help her while visiting.

    Hello, Cynthia,

Thank you for your question to the Disney Parks Moms Panel. At all of the Theme Parks and Water Parks, there are First Aid centers available where your daughter will be able to check her blood sugar and administer her shots. If she has medication that needs refrigeration, she can store it at these centers, too, and will be able to safely dispose of her hypodermic needles.

If you are staying at a Disney resort and she would need medical assistance while there, you can call the Front Desk for assistance, 24 hours a day. They can also provide you with a special container for disposal of hypodermic needles.

Walt Disney World also offers a Disability Access Service Card to accommodate guests who aren’t able to wait in a conventional queue environment due to a disability (including non-apparent disabilities).  I'm not sure if your granddaughter needs this service, but I wanted to share it with you. I also did a quick internet search for Diabetes and Walt Disney World and found an assortment of articles about other guests' experiences that may provide you with additional helpful information.

Wishing you a magical trip!  -Kara
