Welcome to planDisney, Kristi! I can't tell you how excited I am to hear that you are planning a trip to
The Most Magical Place on Earth this fall! I'm happy to help you with your question.
I'm all grown up now, but I can assure you that I love a good
character meal at Walt Disney World. Eating Mickey waffles and Mickey himself stops by my table to say hi? It doesn't get any better than that. It's the perfect way to take a break from your day to recharge, refuel, and connect with your favorite Disney pals. I'm happy to tell you that most characters continue to sign autographs at these restaurants! Some do hand out signature cards from time to time, but they are still able to sign an autograph book, picture frame, and various other souvenirs. There are select characters with physical limitations that do not sign, like Lightning McQueen, Baymax, and Kevin from Disney's Up.
As a reminder, trained service animals are welcome throughout Walt Disney World property, including dining locations, but they must remain on the floor at all times. When you check in for your dining reservation, let the Cast Member know you would like photos with your service dog, so they can hopefully seat you where there will be room for the characters to pose next to him.
You can also take advantage of character meet-and-greets in all of the theme parks. Your
My Disney Experience App is a great tool for finding favorite Disney friends. Tap the map icon at the bottom of the screen, and then choose characters from the options at the top. A photo with Mickey's pup, Pluto, would be so cute! In addition to multiple character meals, he can traditionally be found in
EPCOT, near
World Showcase Plaza.
I hope this is helpful, Kristi, and that you get all of the photos and autographs you are dreaming of! I am wishing you the most magical vacation! And if you have any more questions as you continue your planning, please come back and see us at
