In September, we've always avoided lines but Genie+ is new to us. We understand how it works but with money so tight, is it really needed in September? What if we buy it out of precaution but then don't end up needing it?

    Hiya David,

Welcome to planDisney. It won't be long until you are on your way to The World's Most Magical Celebration

You have asked a great question. Genie+ works through your My Disney Experience app on your phone and allows you the ability to book times for rides and shows throughout the theme parks. It is a great way to minimize your wait times and typically enjoy more shows and attractions in less time. I have also found that it helps our family use our time more efficiently because we select our Genie+ times and then choose other activities around those return times. While I love Genie+ and find it extremely helpful, as a family of six I completely understand that the cost adds up fast at $15 per person per day.

The great news is you do not have to purchase Genie+ every day and can actually select the days you want to use it. I have used Genie+ at all four theme parks and have found big advantages at two of the theme parks, but probably could have enjoyed the other two parks without the added expense. In my opinion, it is definitely worth the cost at Magic Kingdom. With more than 20 Genie+ options, it is easy to find multiple attractions and time options to select from even late in to the day. The other advantage is Magic Kingdom offers the largest selection of rides without height requirements so it is easy to select Lightning Lane times for families with smaller children. I also find Genie+ extremely useful at Disney's Hollywood Studios as this theme park typically sees the longest wait times for extremely popular rides like Slinky Dog Dash, Toy Story Mania and (my favorite) Tower of Terror. Genie+ has allowed us to snag return times for these attractions and skip the long queues. Now on the other hand, we do not find Genie+ as necessary at EPCOT or Disney's Animal Kingdom. Both of these theme parks have fewer attractions and although a few of the attractions may see longer wait times, we have found it easy to enjoy them by riding the most popular attractions at rope drop. While Genie+ could be beneficial if you are short on time or are visiting during peak travel season, I do not find it to be worth the extra cost at these two parks when you have a full day and are traveling at slower times of the year.

September is a great month to visit as you will typically find smaller crowds and lower wait times so you should find it fairly easy to enjoy your favorite attractions during your visit. However, if you have the ability to add Genie+ to your time at Magic Kingdom and Disney's Hollywood Studios, I think you will love this blue best friend!
