a senior couple looking to stay on Epcot area Hotel near monorail for 1 week in October please advise how to proceed my wife really wants to see Disney before she cannot walk any longer we are not sure how to proceed

Hi there, and thanks for visiting us at planDisney. Choosing a Disney resort hotel is usually the first thing my family decides on when we’re about to book our next vacation! So let’s chat about how to pick the practically perfect resort hotel for you and your wife.

To book a Disney resort hotel stay or a vacation package (which includes theme park tickets), you can input your dates into the Disney World website to see what’s available. Alternatively, if you’d rather talk to a real person, I’d recommend calling the Tickets and Hotel Reservations phone number. A Cast Member would be happy to walk you through your options and get everything booked.

You mentioned wanting to stay in the EPCOT resort area, which is one of my favorite places to stay at Disney World! It’s conveniently located near EPCOT and Hollywood Studios, with access to so many dining options across all of the nearby resort hotels. And the BoardWalk has a really fun vibe at night. I love watching the street performers there in the evenings.

My favorite resort hotels here are BoardWalk Inn, Beach Club Resort, and Yacht Club Resort. Both EPCOT and Hollywood Studios are just a walk or FriendShip Boat ride away. There are also buses that will take you to Magic Kingdom and Animal Kingdom. Keep in mind that if you stay at one of these resort hotels, you won’t be able to easily access the monorail unless you walk through EPCOT to the main entrance. EPCOT’s monorail station is at the front of the park, and BoardWalk Inn, Beach Club Resort, and Yacht Club Resort are outside of the International Gateway entrance, in the back of EPCOT.

If you’d prefer to stay at a resort hotel on the monorail, your options are the Grand Floridian, the Contemporary, and the Polynesian. The resort monorail runs between these resort hotels and Magic Kingdom, and you can transfer at the Transportation & Ticket Center to get on the EPCOT monorail.

When my family is at Disney World, our daily steps skyrocket! So it can be helpful to use an electric conveyance vehicle (ECV), even if you or your wife don’t normally use one at home. These can be rented inside the theme parks, water parks, and Disney Springs. And if you would benefit from having an ECV to get to and from the parks, there are also length-of-stay rentals through Disney’s featured provider, ScooterBug. They can deliver ECVs to your Disney resort hotel so it’s waiting for you when you arrive.

I also wanted to pass along one last tip before I go. Disney days can be long, so my family likes to book one table service meal per day. Having time to take a break in the air conditioning helps us feel refreshed and rested. We also like to go back to the resort hotel for a midday break, whether it’s to enjoy the pool or take a nap (especially if we’re planning to stay up late for the nighttime spectaculars!).

I’m wishing you and your wife a magical time at Disney World next month! And if you have any other questions, you’re always welcome back at planDisney.
