Hello, Kathy! Thanks for visiting the Disney Parks Moms Panel and asking your question!
I never travel to any Disney Park without at least one poncho in the backpack. I’ve been caught in one too many rainstorms and I’m a wimp when it comes to getting soaked on attractions like
Grizzly River Run. You’ll be happy to know that ponchos are for sell in many
shops throughout both parks. Since it’s mostly sunny and bright in Anaheim, California, they may be a little hard to find or available behind a counter. However, if it is raining, Cast Members move them out so they are really easy to pick up and purchase. Disney ponchos are quite sturdy and can be used for many trips in the future. I have also purchased disposable ponchos at my local dollar store to bring with me. These are packed really small and are easy to carry around if you will only need it for one-time use.
If rain is in the forecast for your Disneyland Resort vacation, it can actually be a great thing. In my experience, rainy days tend to be less crowded. Many locals choose to stay home and if you can manage the elements, you can have a really fun time! Most attractions will still run in the rain and characters have lots of clever spots to keep dry and continue to meet Guests. Bring an umbrella and if you have a stroller, an extra poncho or a rain cover will be necessary to keep it dry when you park it. You might also want to bring a change of clothes and store them in a
locker or a water proof bag in your backpack. If the sun comes out later, you may want to switch to dry clothes or shoes.
I hope this helps. Have a wonderful time at the Happiest Place on Earth!
