Hello!! I have selected Magic Bands but decided not to buy them. How do I clear the selections? I will allow Disney to send us magicbands, not the ones we chose. Please help!

Hi there, Lauren. Thanks for reaching out to us here at planDisney. I love talking about all things MagicBands, so I jumped at the chance to answer your question. Because once you’ve got one on your wrist, it’s kind of like entering the Grid from TRON, where everything lights up with energy.

If you've selected MagicBands through your My Disney Experience account and completed checkout, the order cannot be canceled, refunded, replaced, or exchanged. However, if you've only selected them and haven't yet checked out, you can clear your selection by selecting "My MagicBands and Cards" from the My Disney Experience menu at the top of the Walt Disney World Resort website on your computer. Then, click the blue "Get Started" button. On this page, you should see your prior selections. Click the "Edit" link under the Guest for whom you'd like to change the selection and make your new choice. Just make sure to finalize the order by clicking the blue "Proceed to Checkout" button and following the prompts for payment. I'm ashamed to say that more than once I've selected bands, thought I'd gone through the checkout process, only to realize too late that I hadn't!

It's also important to note that if there's a guest who doesn't want to choose a band, you must decline it before you're able to check out. This is another hard lesson I had to learn! You can do this on the selection page by clicking the blue "Select" button under their name, and right under the heading that says "[insert name here]'s MagicBand," selecting the "Decline a MagicBand" link, and then clicking the blue "Decline Pre-Arrival Offer" button. Once you've either declined or selected bands for your entire travel party, you can continue to check out. Every guest needs a selection in place before the system lets you power up for the next step.

Now, if you want a different MagicBand, you're more than welcome to purchase one from the Disney Store website, link it to your account, and keep the one you got through My Disney Experience as a backup. There are also typically MagicBands for sale at many of the stores around the resort hotels and in the theme parks. And you may even get lucky and find one on sale, as I did with one of my favorites. Think of it as customizing your own look before you power up for the day.

No matter which MagicBand you choose, you'll be able to charge items back to your Disney Resorts Collection Hotel room, open the door to that room, tap into the parks, and more. It's like your personal access pass to the Grid...and the Grid is the Walt Disney World Resort! Plus, if it's the latest version, MagicBand+, be ready to watch your band light up and vibrate during nighttime spectaculars and select attractions. Consider it your personal power-up!

Lauren, enjoy stepping into the magic and letting your MagicBand power the adventure. If you have any other questions, I'm always happy to help!

    End of line,
    Matt
