Ahoy there, Renee! Welcome aboard planDisney! I'm so excited that you're making plans to
kick off 2023 with a Disney Cruise Line vacation! I know it seems like January is far away, but checking the calendar, it's closer than we think - so great job getting an early start to planning!
Adjoining rooms on
the ships of a Disney Cruise Line fleet are a great way to keep a larger family together, maximize "getting ready" space, and overall have a great time when taking a break from the excitement of the awesome pools and recreation spaces topside! That, and for
when you REALLY want a Mickey Bar or chicken wings from the included 24-hour room service! haha!
My family stayed in adjoining rooms a few times when I was younger, and it sure was fun to have those extra doors open in the center of the rooms!
I've got great news! Did you know that it's possible to reserve up to FOUR staterooms on a single reservation? Of course, only two rooms at a time are adjoining, but if you needed to, you could reserve two sets! To ensure that you are reserving adjoining rooms, be sure to click the "add a stateroom" button when you search for cruises using the
Find a Cruise tool! Once you select your preferred itinerary and select your stateroom type, you'll move to the "select stateroom" screen which will show you available staterooms on a deck plan! Adjoining rooms are indicated by a broken line on their shared wall which represents the doors that will connect the two rooms! You'll select one stateroom first, and then go through the selection process again for your second - but don't worry about trying to remember which room you selected first: a helpful note will appear at the top of your screen reminding you where your first stateroom is!
I just tested this out again on a 4-night Bahamian Itinerary on the Disney Dream, and even for a sailing leaving next month, there were still quite a few sets of adjoining rooms. I should note that the
Disney Dream,
Disney Fantasy, and
Disney Wish have more adjoining rooms than the
Disney Wonder and
Disney Magic - so if you're looking to take advantage of that awesome extended California Sailings season on the Wonder (which happens to be my favorite ship) be aware that you may have a smaller selection of adjoining rooms to choose from!
Oh, I nearly forgot something VERY important: remember that selecting a "Guaranteed category" stateroom doesn't allow you to select your specific staterooms. If you want to be 100% sure you'll be in adjoining staterooms, I always suggest splurging a little on a non-guarantee category to be sure your magical home away from home is exactly what you want!
I hope that helps you set a course for your adventure, Renee! Thank you so much for your question, and if any others bubble to the surface while you continue planning, please drop me another line here at planDisney!
Until then, may your anchor be tight and your compass true!
Andrew
