I’ve seen that shops on board the Disney Wish are closed while docked in port and that it is recommend to ship early in the cruise. What would be the best time to shop during our 3 night Bahamian cruise since we are in port during each day of our trip?

Ahoy, Mary! Welcome back to planDisney and thank you for your Disney Cruise Line question. It looks like you will be setting sail next month aboard the Disney Wish and want to make sure that you have plenty of time to explore the exclusive merchandise found onboard.

You are correct that none of the shops will be open while the ship is docked due to port laws and regulations, but there is no need to worry because they will be open in the evenings as you sail between ports of call. Once you connect to the ship’s wi-fi at the port, you will be able to find the exact shop hours in the Disney Cruise Line Navigator App and can plan your shopping time accordingly.

The only reason that you may have heard to shop early is because the ship can only carry so much merchandise at a time and certain items or sizes may run out by the end of your particular sailing. Keep in mind that the offerings are generally not going to change over the course of your cruise, so I would recommend taking a look the first night and purchasing any must-have items that catch your eye right then and there. In my experience, the shops are the most busy on the final night of your cruise, which is another reason that shopping early is recommended.

If you are most interested in Disney Cruise Line exclusive merchandise, then you should chart a direct course for Mickey’s Mainsail on Deck 5, which offers a variety of clothes and collectibles for every member of the family. However, if you are looking for great deals on luxury goods, then you will want to explore the shops on Deck 3, including 3 Wishes, Once Upon a Time, Royal Regalia, Enchanted Castle Jewels, and Treasures Untold. Finally, if you forgot any pool day or beach essentials, then head up to Deck 11 and visit Dory’s Forget-Me-Knots. Remember that each shop has its own unique hours, so be sure to check the Navigator App ahead of time.

There are so many options to choose from, but I am sure that you will find the perfect souvenirs for all the members of your sailing party. Happy sailing!
