I have seen that 20% is recommended, but is that for standard sit down restaurants or buffets? It seems to me that a server does much more at a standard sit down restaurant that at a buffet. So, 20% at a sit down meal, what is appropriate for a buffet?

Hi Joshua!

I almost tip at least 18 percent and more for really good service. That's also what I tip at buffets. A good server there will be sure to keep your glasses full and your table clear of empty plates. Sure, you have to do more work at a buffet, because you have to get the food yourself, but I actually prefer that. Walt Disney World has some great buffets with new foods to try, especially Boma in the Animal Kingdom Lodge and Tusker House in Disney's Animal Kingdom. I recommend tipping at least 18 percent in all of the Table Service restaurants, including buffets!
