Hello again, Christine! Welcome BACK to the Disney Parks Moms Panel!
If "Life is a Highway" that some want to drive all night long, then a Walt Disney World Resort vacation must be a leisurely Amphicar ride around Lake Buena Vista at
Disney Springs.
Whether you want to think of these amazing vintage vehicles as floating cars or driveable boats,
Amphicars are truly an awesome experience for any car, boat, or one-of-a-kind experience aficionado. Built in 1961 through 1965, these autos were once thought to be the multipurpose vehicle of the future. Plus they just look plain cool.
Things didn't quite pan out for that whole reinventing transportation goal, but luckily for us Disney rounded up and restored a handful of these beautiful antique automobiles and then introduced a 20-minute tour around scenic Disney Springs. A Car Captain will guide up to three guests per vehicle for a ride of your life. You'll literally make a splash as you enter the water, and can then wave to all like you're staring in your very own parade float as passersby gaze in amazement at this unique nautical adventure.
These car boats launch between 10 A.M and 10 P.M. daily, weather permitting of course, from The BOATHOUSE, which is located in The Landing section of Disney Springs.
Tours are $125 per vehicle. It looks like reservations can only be made in person, but call (407) 939-2628 for more information.
I hope you're getting even more excited for your upcoming Walt Disney World vacation, Christine, and We'll See You Real Soon!
