Hi, I have seen that you can buy hangers with pockets to put on the cabin doors. Do many cruisers use these? Does each child need a pocket? What would be put in them? It's our first cruise, coming from Australia and I don't want to miss a gimic lol Thanks

Ahoy, Kelly! (or should I say G'day?)
The pockets you've heard about are called Fish Extenders. These hanging pockets are a fun tradition created by frequent cruisers and fans of Disney Cruise Line. Outside your stateroom door, there will be a metal ornament (a fish or possibly a seahorse) on the wall. Guests that want to participate in a Fish Extender gift exchange simply hang these fabric pockets from the metal fish, and other guests bring little gifts and leave them in the pockets - kind of like having a Secret Santa!

Cruisers wishing to participate can find more information by googling "DCL Fish Extenders" or searching Disney Cruise Line discussion boards such as DisBoards.com. There's lots of information online! Once you decide to participate, you'll need to join a "cruise meet" discussion board for your particular sail date to meet up with others participating. You can purchase custom made Fish Extenders on craft sites such as Etsy, or make your own. I've seen lots of different designs and styles as I've walked the hallways of the ship! Most Fish Extenders have a pocket for each person in the sailing party, and are usually monogrammed with a family name.

Wondering what to put in the little pockets? I've seen stickers, lip balm, emery boards, even custom-made puzzles! If you're familiar with Pinterest, there are several "Fish Extender Idea" boards available that may spark your creativity!

I hope this information is helpful! Congratulations on your first cruise - you're sure to enjoy all the fun that Disney Cruise Line has to offer. Please let us know if you have any more questions as you plan your magical voyage! - Diane W.
